What is Swim For Hope?
Swim For Hope is an annual charity swim event that debuted in 2011 at SAFRA Tampines. By 2014, the well-received fundraiser was expanded to five SAFRA clubs; and then extended to three days the following year. A parent-and-child category was introduced in 2016, encouraging more children below the age of 13 to join and do their part for charity.

What is the purpose of Swim For Hope?
The purpose of this event is to raise money for the respective beneficiaries. The registration fees, donation boxes collection, individual outright donations and corporate companies’ donations will go to the respectively beneficiaries, namely: Association for Persons with Special Needs (APSN), Singapore Children’s Society and SAF Care Fund.

What is new in 2018 edition of Swim For Hope?
Into its 8th edition this year, Swim For Hope will introduce a Junior Category for children between the age of 6 to 12, to participate. As per previous years, the Open Category and Parent-and-Child Category are also available.

Where does the money go?
Proceeds received will be allocated to three beneficiaries this year, namely Association for Persons with Special Needs (APSN), Singapore Children’s Society and SAF Care Fund.

How much will be donated?
The amount of donation depends on the total number of laps swam (unlocking milestones mechanism):

This is calculated based on past year statistics. In addition to registration fees, the targeted figures will be met with the addition of sponsorship, merchandise, donation boxes and corporate companies. In short, all proceeds collected will go to charity.

Will there be goodie bags this year?
Yes. Each participant will receive a participant tee and goodie bag of sponsored items for the event. Each participant will be entitled to only one participant tee and goodie bag regardless of the number of slots signed up for with the respective clubs.

Is there any requirements to participate for Swim For Hope 2018?
It is recommended that participants know basic swimming skills and declare any health reasons as stated during registration. Open Categories are open to 13 years old and above. Participants below 12 years old can either take part in the Parent-and-Child or Junior category.

Is there a minimum number of laps I need to swim?
There is no minimum lap required. Participants can swim according to each capability. You can also have a rest anytime within the 2-hour period (per slot) before swimming again after your break.

What are the categories available and how much to participate?
There are three categories available. Pricing is per two-hour slot per club:

Why do we need to collect registration fees since it is a charity event?
The registration fees go towards the final donation amount tier (as per unlocking mechanism) to the beneficiaries.

How does the two-hour time slot work?
Each participant can select the two-hour time slot at their preferred club to swim (subjected to availability). Participants are encourage to arrive 30mins before their selected timeslots for registration and for the safety briefing, the flag-off for the swim will commence at 9am, 11am, 1pm, 3pm, 5pm, 7pm and 9pm (timing where applicable). Participants will be informed 10mins prior to the end of their selected timeslots to exit the pool to allow the swimmers for the next timeslot to join the swim.

Why should I sign up for more slots?
You will have a higher chance of finishing as one of the Top Three swimmers to win an exclusive prize and, at the same time, swim more laps to contribute more for charity.

Can I transfer my slots or get a refund if I cannot make the event after registering?
Slots are strictly non-transferable, non-exchangeable and non-refundable upon confirmation of registration. All registered participant’s information, such as medical condition, are tagged to the particular swim entry. Hence, competing on behalf is strictly not allowed. The organiser reserves the right to disqualify the entry and/or refuse participant’s entry into the start pen for entries that have been transferred.

What are the time slots available?
You can choose two-hour slots from the below timing at the respective clubs as stated below:

Why is SAFRA Mount Faber not part of Swim For Hope this year?
SAFRA Mount Faber will be undergoing major renovation works at their lobby during October and we do not wish to compromise on our participant’s experience and safety during the event.

What are the modes of payment for registration?
You can make payment by VISA or MasterCard through the online payment portal which you will be directed to after you’ve duly completed your registration.

Where can I download the registration form and register for the event?
There is no registration form to download, as all the registration will go through online portal.

How would I know if my registration has been successful?
Participants will receive a confirmation slip via email upon successful registration.

When is the closing date for registration?
The closing date for registration is 7 Oct 2018, 11:59pm.

I lost my registration confirmation slip. What should I do?

Can I change the size of my participant tee on the event day?
No, the shirts are ordered as per registered. No changing of size is allowed. Please note that the availability of size is upon your registration.

Is there a finisher tee for Swim For Hope this year?
No, the finisher tee was exclusively launched for our NS50 Challenge last year. However, each participant can redeem an exclusive 10L Dry Bag when he/she signs up for 3 and more timeslots this year.

How long do I have to swim or complete the laps?
You will be selecting a two-hour slot during your registration process.


For all Categories, participant can swim as many laps as he/she would like within the selected two-hour slot. To continue swimming, sign up for additional timeslots during your registration to ensure that you are entitled to swim during subsequent hours, as all time slots are subjected to availability.

All proceeds will go to charity.

Is the event safe with so many participants swimming in a pool?
Yes. We have 5 experienced lifeguards and a medical team on duty at all times to respond to any emergency in the pool during the event.

Which swimming style/stroke is allowed during the swim?
We strongly encourage to swim only in free-style or breast-stroke during the swim.

What do I get after finishing my swim?
In addition to your participant tee and goodie bag, you will also receive a finisher medal. The finisher medal is customised by each club and participants can aim to collect all medals by swimming at all clubs. Each participant will be entitled to only one medal regardless of the number of slots signed up for with the respective clubs.

How do I collect all club finisher medals?
The finisher medals are customised for each club and participants are able to collect all 4 by swimming at all 4 clubs. Each participant will be entitled to only one medal regardless of slots registered at each respective club.

How do I know the number of laps I have contributed?
Our volunteers will be assigned to hand out rubber bands to the swimmers during the event. Swimmers are then advised to submit the rubber bands for tabulation upon collecting 20 of it.

You may write in to swim4hope@safra.sg after the event to request for your total number of laps tabulated.

What will happen in the event of inclement weather?
The organiser reserves the right to delay the commencement of the race. Should the inclement weather persist after a delayed start, the organiser reserves the right to cancel the race in the organiser’s sole discretion without further obligation and without any refund.

How else can I contribute?
You can drop a kind donation in SAFRA Swim For Hope donation boxes located at all SAFRA clubhouses or make a donation online via the registration portal. You can also give an outright donation in the form of a cheque.
